Join Us in Creating a Community Wall of Remembrance
Create a Poppy, Share a Memory, Support a Great Cause
This autumn, Mill Gate Shopping Centre welcomes local families, schools, community groups and businesses to take part in a special Wall of Remembrance made entirely from handmade poppies. We would love to fill the display with creations from across the community, with each poppy helping to honour and remember those who have served. For every poppy submitted, Mill Gate will donate 50p to the Royal British Legion, up to a total of £1,000, helping to support the charity's vital work while marking the season of remembrance.
How to participate?
Whether you're crafting at home, in the classroom, with friends or as part of a local organisation, everyone is welcome to get involved. From paper and felt to crochet, knitting and recycled materials, poppies can be created in any style, making this a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to take part.
Those wishing to contribute are asked to create a poppy measuring between 6-30cm across and attach a safety pin, loop or small stem so it can be displayed. Contributors are also invited to write a name or personal message on the back of their poppy in memory of someone special.

Throughout November, the completed Wall of Remembrance will be proudly displayed within the centre, creating a meaningful space for reflection and remembrance. We'll also be sharing photographs of the finished display across our website and social media channels so everyone can see the impact of this collective community tribute.
Every poppy will help tell a story, remember a loved one and contribute to something truly special. We look forward to seeing our community come together once again to create a beautiful display that honours remembrance, supports a worthy cause and showcases the kindness and creativity of local people.
Please note that submitted poppies cannot be returned once the display has ended, although any items that cannot be stored will be responsibly recycled.
