Bolton’s Famous Carrs Pasties Set to Open at Mill Gate

Fans of hearty, freshly baked pasties in Bury have something to look forward to this month as iconic Bolton bakery Carrs Pasties prepares to open its doors in Mill Gate Shopping Centre.

The family-run bakery, which has been serving up its beloved pasties since 1938, is expanding beyond its Bolton roots for the first time with a dedicated bakehouse in the heart of Bury town centre.

Carrs Pasties has built a loyal following over more than eight decades, originally attracting long queues of mill workers in Bolton for its classic meat and potato pasties. Today it is celebrated across the North West for its flaky, golden pastry and generous fillings, with a range that includes traditional favourites and more contemporary variations.

The new Bury Bakehouse will be located within Mill Gate, offering shoppers and residents the chance to enjoy freshly baked pasties alongside their retail experience. Exact opening dates will be confirmed closer to launch, but work is already underway to have ovens filling with pasties in time for early 2026.

This expansion marks an exciting new chapter for Carrs Pasties and brings a much-loved regional bakery into Greater Manchester’s thriving retail and leisure destination.
