Bake Off Star Crowned

Mill Gate Shopping Centre has recently crowned their Star Baker in their baking and decorating competition- The Great Mill Gate Bake Off! The competition started on social media, with contestants sending in images of their best-ever bakes, from which 4 finalists were selected to compete in the live decorate-off in the shopping centre. The contestants had 90 minutes to decorate their supplied cakes with the only brief being- Mill Gate’s 30^th Birthday, which they could take in any direction they chose, which they certainly did. The event was hosted by “Noel Fielding” who brought to life the ‘Bake Off’ tent, with his flair and panache as he engaged the contestants with friendly competition and rivalry.

Cakes were stripped, wrapped, covered, and cut up to create stunning 30^th Birthday celebration pieces which were displayed to the panel of esteemed judges- Centre Manager Kirsty Williams, “Noel Fielding”, and other members of the centre management team, who judged them based off aesthetics, creativity, and design- with an essential taste test also being performed!

The cakes ranged from ’30 years of experiences’ to beautiful celebration pieces, and the winning design of a stunning bouquet of blue flowers with Mill Gate memories dipped in. The fabulous finalists were all awarded £50 vouchers to a shop of their choice with star baker receiving a £100 voucher and signed copies of books from the Queen of ‘Bake Off’ herself- Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
