Shop for Schools
A scheme to help schools in Bury claim hundreds of pounds of free equipment is launched.
Shop for Schools, run by Mill Gate Shopping Centre, was launched on 1st October. The initiative sees money spent in any store in the shopping centre, converted into tokens for shoppers’ chosen school or nursery taking part.
All tokens will be converted into points. The school with the most amount of points will win £750 to use to purchase whatever equipment they require for the school. The promotion runs until 31st December.
Mill Gate centre manager Marie Gribben said: “This promotion will hopefully encourage people to spend in the centre which in turn means more points for the chosen schools. The prize money is valued at £750 which will enable the winning school to choose whatever equipment they need for their school.
It is very easy to help your chosen school. Simply take along your receipt for anything purchased in Mill Gate to Customer Services on Minden Parade.
Staff will give you equivalent tokens that match the money spent and stamp your receipt before returning it to you. All token will then be posted in the post box for your chosen school or nursery. Mill Gate staff will collect them at the end of every day and regular updates with a leaderboard will be displayed in Customer Services.
There will be bonus point tokens printed in the Bury Times and on Mill Gate Facebook on selected days throughout the promotion, so watch out for these!
Schools are given an overall point score calculated by dividing them by the number of pupils to ensure fairness regardless of size.
